death

This website is a memorial to a very special horse.  Harvey came into my life by accident, the unknown colt carried by a two year old filly I had purchased.  He was the best surprise I’ve ever had.  I have never had a relationship with a horse like the one I had with Harvey.  From the minute I first saw him, a powerful bond grew and developed.memorialplaque

I have spoken to other women who have experienced this, but it is rare and extraordinary, and we are blessed to have had it.

I spent an enormous amount of time with Harvey in the short years I had him.  That’s why I knew him so well, and he knew me so well.  He became that one horse in my life, and I’ve had wonderful horses before.  Harvey’s death was so horrifically painful I will never, ever recover from it.

Below is a link to an article called Coping With the Loss of a Horse, written by a professional counselor in grief and bereavement relating to animals, Jeannine Moga, M.A., M.S.W., LICSW, who has experience in losing a beloved horse. If you are grieving the loss of a horse, I hope you find the same comfort in this article that I did. If you are one of the curious who really doesn’t understand the intense grief suffered over the loss of a horse, perhaps you’ll find some understanding.
